The Project, for its Preparation Phase (2007-2008), has started its activities in Khovd aimag by establishing there Project Implementation Unit PIU, responsible for implementing activities on combating and reducing desertification by closely collaborating with Aimags and Soums Governor's Administration Office and esp. with local population using participatory approach. All activities and actions are designated by the main Project Implementation Unit (PIU) in Ulaanbaatar city.
